Cuquita, The Cuban Doll, captivates the audience as she poses gracefully while her recorded voice recites powerful excerpts from Linda Nochlin's groundbreaking essay, "Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists?" Her performance seamlessly transitions into a dynamic dance to the evocative song "Se Acabó" ("It's Over") by the iconic Afro-Cuban singer La Lupe. Following this expressive showcase, Cuquita presents two thought-provoking messages, each infused with cultural and feminist critique. The first message, attributed to Ana Mendieta, states: "American Feminism as it stands is a white middle-class movement." The second message, delivered in Cuquita's signature style, declares: "The choice is yours. Say it, but with an accent."
