Normal Is Good, 2009. Performative Runway, Clothing Collection, 15min

"Normal Is Good" was created in Havana, Cuba, as a project focused on producing collections of conceptual garments that combine fashion design and visual arts in a multidisciplinary approach. The garments feature hidden pockets or spaces to store personal items, eliminating the need for a purse or bag. Through these designs, the project aims to encourage a reexamination of our relationship with space and our everyday belongings. "Normal Is Good" reflects Romagoza's opposition to social conventions and prejudices, particularly in the context of her upbringing in Cuba, where the concept of an egalitarian society often suppresses individual expression and self-empowerment, especially for women. The project invites us to question what is considered normal and necessary, prompting reflection on the societal standard of "good" in our daily lives. Yali Romagoza is a pioneer of conceptual art that intersects with fashion in Cuba. From 2009 to 2016, "Normal Is Good" presented various collections of conceptual garments through performances in Havana, Paris, Miami, and New York.
